FAITH

The last of the list as to how we can strengthen our spiritual core is by exercising faith. Hebrews 11:1-2 tell us that “faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:6 also tells us that “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him”.  So, what does that mean? Biblical faith goes beyond mental acceptance of the facts. Firstly, what we believe in has to be true. The bible establishes this truth for us, through the word of God. In addition to this, faith is bigger than just believing in something true, it also requires action and trust.

Simply put, until we take action, our ‘faith’ is just a bunch of words. Hence the reason why James 2:17 says that unless faith produces action it is in fact dead, or not faith at all. Faith isn’t something you FEEL, it’s something you DO. Like Joshua, God told him what to do and he exercised this faith by trusting God to deliver him and the Israelites despite the illogical task given. No matter how silly, illogical or strange what God is asking us to do may seem, we must exercise our faith in Him. For although, unfortunate events do happen in the world we live in God’s intention for all of us is to live a full, healthy and productive life.
